Honorable Minister of Odisha visited IIIT Bangalore

Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister of Odisha in charge of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and Secretary, Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma visited IIIT Bangalore on 12th August. He had detailed discussions with the Director and the VICT (Computational Thinking for Visually Impaired persons) project team. Odisha has decided to roll out the project in all its blind schools to make science, maths and computational thinking curriculum more accessible to its visually impaired children. The VICT project is representative of IIIT Bangalore’s commitment to translatable research for social impact. Being executed in close partnership with Microsoft Research India and Vision Empower since 2019, the research outputs from the project are now being used in close to 100 schools spread over nine states in India.
