Jaya Sreevalsan Nair is the organizer and coordinator of talk series, “Bhoo-Mandal Talk Series,” a monthly public event organized under the auspices of IEEE GRSS Bangalore Section. Meenakshi D’Souza will be teaching a course on Software Testing in the newly launched online degree program of IIT Madras towards getting a B.Sc. degree in Programming and Data Science. The course will be offered for learners in their third year, both as an elective and as a core course. This is in recognition of her successful NPTEL course on Software Testing which is currently in the fourth re-run.

 

Prof Srinivas Vivek participated as an External Member (Academics) in the eleventh Board of Studies meeting for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Presidency University, Bengaluru, on 4th September, 2020.

 

Jaya Sreevalsan Nair delivered the keynote talk at ACM-W India “Celebrations of Women in Computing (AICWiC) 2020”, organized by ACM-W and ACM Nagpur chapters, titled, “Data Dissemination during COVID-19: The Rise of Visualizations!” on 5th September, 2020.

 

Jaya Sreevalsan Nair presented a talk titled “What can the shape of neighbourhood show-and-tell?” at Women in Data Science (WiDS) Mysuru Meetup, on 6th September, 2020.

 

Prof S. Rajagopalan, an Honorary Visiting faculty member at IIIT Bangalore and Faculty Coordinator, Modular Open Source Identity Platform Project (MOSIP) was one of the panellists at “#DigitalDecade to Strengthen Public Institutions”, a landmark event for the emerging field of digital public goods, convened by New America, on 18th September, 2020, during the UN General Assembly 2020. https://www.newamerica.org/digital-impact-governance-initiative/events/un-general-assembly-2020/

 

Meenakshi D’Souza gave an invited talk on her research on “Formal verification of embedded autonomous control systems” as a part of Women in Technology event held along with Mathworks Advisory Board, in a virtual meeting held on 5th October. This is a by-invitation-only event aimed at fostering interactions between academia and Mathworks, and their customers in industry.

 

Balaji Parthasarathy was the discussant of the paper, “Designing digital public goods and playgrounds in India: The need for theoretical and contextual analysis”, authored by Arun Mohan Sukumar, hosted by Tandem Research, Goa, on 29th October.

 

Balaji Parthasarathy was the moderator of the panel “Design and its Social Impact”, at the Design Leadership Summit, hosted by the Internet and Mobile Association of India, New Delhi, between 29th to 30th  October.

 

Meenakshi D’Souza participated in an invited webinar on “Coverage criteria for better testing” at the virtual event “Quality and Specialized Testing Week 2020” organized by Citius Technology, Mumbai, on 30th October.
