IIIT Bangalore and upGrad conducted e-Graduation Ceremony on 9th August. 2858 learners graduated from various PG Diploma programs; five batches from Data Science, six batches from Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and six batches from Software Development/Blockchain. Infosys COO, Pravin Rao, was the guest speaker at the event.
Independence Day was celebrated in IIIT Bangalore on 15th August, with all necessary precautionary measures in place. Jagadish Patil, CAO, IIIT Bangalore hoisted the flag, which was followed by the housekeeping staff singing patriotic songs with great fervour.
Students celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September virtually. They conveyed their gratitude and greatly appreciated the efforts of the faculty who took extra care and efforts to conduct classes during these pandemic-hit times. The Students AdSAC had organized a meme competition among the students on the theme of teacher-student relationships and presented some of the best-selected memes during the meeting.

TEDxIIITBangalore conducted its first ever virtual event on 5th September. The event was live-streamed on YouTube and was viewed by more than 5,000 audience.
The event had accomplished speakers from various domains.

There was a live interaction with each speaker after the talk, where audience were encouraged to ask questions and interact with the speakers.
The event elicited a positive response from the audience.
Elections to the Student Affairs Council (SAC) were conducted on 13th September, virtually. Aspiring candidates mailed their nominations to the SAC, along with a statement of purpose. They used a web application for voting online developed by ZENSE for the SAC 2020-21 elections.
The winners of the election are: Masters’ (Vaibhavi Shivaji Tikone (MT2020006), Jyotsna Tata (MT2020020), Swapnil Agarwal (MT2020523), Pavan Kumar Gupta (MT2020008), Manasa Kashyap (IMT2018040), Nachiappan Senthil Kumar (IMT2018047), Samhitha Perala (IMT2019521), and Anish Potluri (IMT2019009).
IIITB celebrated the 21st Foundation Day on 15th September, through a virtual event. While our Director shared some memorable moments of the past, a few alumni also spoke about their days in the institute, and recollected many memorable moments. Students from our Music Club entertained the audience with their performance. A medley of the Dance Club’s performances over the last five years was also played during the occasion.
Post the event, a sumptuous lunch was organized, with the people present at the venue adhering to the social distancing guidelines.
A Fireside chat was held on 20th September, virtually. Prof Srinath Srinivasa, Dean (R&D), IIIT Bangalore spoke about amongst other things his recent book “The Theory of Being: Systems science from a traditional Indian perspective”. The session was moderated by Praseeda who is pursuing her Ph.D. at IIIT Bangalore.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, the SAC launched a contest titled ‘A Peace of Art’ – to present the views of students, on non-violence. Students showcased their creativity through an artwork, photograph, digital poster, or a poem/story (in any language) on the theme of ‘Non-violence’. The best submissions were awarded prizes after the event.

IIIT Bangalore Alumni Council conducted IIIT Bangalore Alumni Connect – a monthly event where members of the IIIT Bangalore alumni community can engage, learn, and share together.
As part of this event, on 18th October, a panel discussion was held on “Agricultural Sector, Technologies, Opportunities in light of the Farm Bill” among our alumni Ananda and Jyotiska, along with Prof Amit Prakash.
IIIT Bangalore observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 27th October to 2nd November 2020.
