Balaji Parthasarathy and Preeti Mudliar have been awarded €13,550 by the Mobile World Capital Foundation, Barcelona, for a study titled, “Gender, professionalization, and digital platforms: The case of beauticians in India.” The study will run from June 2020 to December 2020. It will explore the livelihoods of female beauticians on digital platforms that offer on-demand services through apps, and how the notion of professionalization is understood and embodied in online beauty work.
The paper titled “Time Matters: Flexi-time and women’s retention in the 24/7 workplace” by Ph.D. student Oindrila Matilal (under the supervision of Professor Janaki Srinivasan) awarded the David B. Martin Best Paper Award at the 18th European Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, Siegen, Germany, June 13-17, 2020.
The European Society for Socially Embedded Technologies (EUSSET) published an interview with Oindrila on their website. In the interview, she talks about the exploratory paper for which she won the award.

Aditya Sheth, IMTech 2018 student is placed in the top 1000 competitors of Code Jam Round 2, and has qualified for the 3rd round scheduled in the first week of June. Adithya cleared five stages including 3 rounds in stage 1, a qualifying round, and Round 2.

Nikitha A.N (IMT2018051) was selected as Google Women Techmakers Scholar 2020 (Asia Pacific Region) through the Women Techmakers Scholars Program (formerly the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program). Google is furthering Dr. Anita Borg’s vision of creating gender equality in the field of computer science by encouraging women to excel in computing and technology and become active leaders.
She was one among the select few awardees of the scholarship in the APAC regions, which recognizes female undergrads (year 1 and year 2) for their passion for technology, demonstrated leadership and academic background.
