January 13Fairwork panel discussion  

The Fairwork India team, at IIIT Bangalore’s Center for IT and Public Policy held a presentation and panel discussion of the Fairwork India Ratings 2021: ‘Labour Standards in the Platform Economy’ report. The panelists in the webinar included Mr. Vinoj Abraham, Center for Development Studies, Ms. Rashmi Menon, LiveMint, Mr. Shaik Salauddin, IFAT and Mr. Varun Mathew, Lawyer. The panel discussion was presented by Balaji Parthasarathy. It was moderated by Prof. Amit Prakash.

Investing: Not a destination but a journey

IIIT Bangalore’s Alumni Council in collaboration with Multipl Fintech Solutions, arranged a financial talk, “Investing: Not a destination but a journey”. The two founders of Multipl, Mr. Paddy Raghavan (Alum of IIIT Bangalore) and Mr. Vikas Jain (Co-founder), educated participants with the nitty gritty of financial investments, risks and returns associated with various asset classes such as equities, debt, gold and crypto currencies.

Prof. Balaji Parthasarathy spoke on ‘FutureOfWork’ at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)’s event: Digital Labour Platforms to the Rescue? Insights and Learnings from the ILO and India

The event facilitated the international dialogue with the experts from the International Labour Organisation, JustJobs Network and the Fairwork Foundation (IIIT Bangalore). The discussion emphasized on opportunities and risks of digital labour platforms, and explore how they are transforming the ‘FutureOfWork’ in the Global South. The event presented key findings from the ILO’s World Employment and Social Outlook 2021 (WESO) and discussed them by taking a closer look at the situation in India.

Prof. Srinivas Vivek was invited as the Guest of Honour at the MBA Inaugural and Orientation programme of the 24th batch at Surana College, Bangalore on January 27. Prof. Vivek spoke on “My Journey & Management Skills”.
