Independence Day
Prof. Debabrata Das (Director) was the Chief Guest of 75th Independence Day celebrations and he hoisted the flag. The event was followed by a small cultural programme; patriotic poems and songs were recited by the students and staff. Some of the children of faculty members too participated in the cultural event.

Photography Contest
Photography Club of IIIT Bangalore conducted a photography contest, “Shutter Up” and the theme was mirror photography. The contest was held on Perspective-IIIT Bangalore Instagram page. Two alumni of IIIT Bangalore judged the event and the winners of the event were Shashank Shekhar (IMT2020112), Heet Vasani (IMT202088) and Anjan Vikas (IMT2018049).
August 30
National Sports Day
National day of Sports celebrated in the IIIT Bangalore Campus for the first time. Prof. Debabrata Das (Director), Cmde S R Sridhar (Retd) (Registrar), staff and students were part of the celebrations. Some of the sports competitions were organized for the staff and students.
As a part of the celebrations, sports competition and fun activities were organized by the Sports Department. The skipping rope competition was held for the staff and students. Out of the four team participated, NAAC Warriors team emerged as the winner. The winning team members were Ms. Vandana, Ms. Debasmita, Ms. Mythri and Mr. Ravi. In the tic-tac-toe completion, out of the six teams participated, Amogh Johri (IMT2017003)’s team won the first place. The members of the team were Amogh Johri (IMT2017003), Kaustubh Nair (IMT 2017025), Saad Patel (IMT2018514), Anubhav Mishra (IMT 2017503) and Kartik Udupa (IMT 2018510). The prize to the winners were distributed by Mr. J P Patil (Chief Administration Officer).

Teachers’ Day
Teachers’ Day is a day meant to appreciate, honor and acknowledge the amazing contribution of teachers. The Teachers’ Day celebrations did not go the usual way this year too. The students of IIIT Bangalore celebrated the day online by creating a bunch of memes and stickers to show their gratitude towards all faculty members.
September 8
Vaccination Drive
Second dose Vaccination of Covishield was administered at Multipurpose hall. All personnel who were due for their second dose vaccination and wished to avail of the facility took their second dose by showing their Aadhar card and First Vaccination certificate. The family members of staff and faculty members also availed the facility. Vaccination was sourced through Kauvery Hospital, Electronic City.
September 10
Ganesha Chaturthi
Ganesha Chaturthi was celebrated by the students with full enthusiasm. Ganesha idol was installed in the campus for three days. On each of the days, there was Ganesha aarti in the evening followed by sweets distribution. SAC organized a karaoke night on the last day to end the festivities with a bang.
September 15
Foundation DayOur 22nd Foundation Day was celebrated on September 15 in a hybrid mode. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Debabrata Das (Director). Both Dr. Manish Gupta, Director, Google Research India, Chief Guest and Commodore. K Vijay Kumar, Guest of Honor joined us on a virtual mode and shared their valuable words with the audience. Some of SAC 2021 students took us on ‘A trip down the memory lane’ through video messages sharing their journey in IIIT Bangalore. Like every year, on this Foundation Day too, the Director felicitated faculty and staff members who completed the milestones of their career journey at IIIT Bangalore. Adding fervor to the event, there was a recorded musical performance by Prof. Nikhil Krishna, Ms. Bhagaya, Staff member and students of the Music Club. A dance performance video by the Dance Club students was also played at the event.

Shri. Piyush Goyal visited the campus
Shri. Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles visited the campus. He took a tour around all the research centers of IIIT Bangalore
September 24
MoA to Establish CIET at IIIT Bangalore in collaboration with WEF
The Karnataka’s Department of Electronics Information Technology Biotechnology and Science & Technology (IT, BT &ST) sanctioned approval for the establishment of the Center for Internet of Ethical Things (CIET) at IIIT Bangalore in collaboration with World Economic Forum (WEF). The Memorandum of Agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics, IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka. Prof. S Sadagopan, Founding Director, IIIT Bangalore, Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT Bangalore and Prof. Madhav Rao were present during the occasion.
The proposed center, envisioned by the Karnataka Government, is expected to contribute to the policy framework which explicitly engages with ethical and moral aspects of IoT and AI technologies and also nurture a thriving innovation ecosystem in the state. The CIET will focus on health, agriculture, education, manufacturing and mobility verticals. IIIT Bangalore will contribute its in-depth research expertise in the domain of security, hardware design, data management and ethical policy, and formulate a technological framework in the collaboration.
September 27
Lifts Inauguration at Ramanujan Block
Giving a major boost to the campus facilities, IIIT Bangalore installed three lifts in Ramanjuan Block. Prof. Debabrata Das (Director) inaugurated three lifts on September 27. All the three lifts connect users from the basement to the auditorium in third floor. Out of three lifts, two lifts have the capacity to carry 16 people each and the other has a capacity of 24 people. Cmde S R Sridhar (Retd) (Registrar), Prof. Chandrashekhar Ramanathan (Dean-Academics) and Mr. J P Patil (Chief Administration Officer), staff and the students were also present during the inauguration.
