IIIT Bangalore hosts ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award

The stage of IIIT Bangalore was set for a proud moment when Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay was awarded ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award from none other than his own teacher and mentor, Prof. Biswanath Chatterji in the august presence of luminaries from academic and industry. The prestigious award is given to eminent scholars and researchers in the field of advanced computing and communications and Prof. Chaudhuri’s was chosen for this award for his remarkable contributions to computer vision and computational photography which have led to significant industrial impact. ACCS acknowledged Prof. Chaudhuri for his path-breaking work and for putting India on the map of international research in computer vision,” said Mr. Jailendra Kumar, President of ACCS.  Prof. Chaudhuri expressed his gratitude for the award and said, “I am humbled by the recognition of my work by ACCS. Such recognition goes a long way in further motivating us into research to find technological solutions for the enrichment of human life.” 

The award instituted in 2004, by ACCS and C-DAC, fosters development and dissemination of theories and applications of computing and communications sciences. ACCS-CDAC award is given to individuals with outstanding contributions and accomplishments that have had a significant and demonstrable effect on the practice of computing and communications.

Prof. Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT Bangalore, Mr. Jailendra Kumar, President of ACCS, Mr. Magesh Ethirajan, Director General of C-DAC, Prof. S Sadagopan and other dignitaries along with faculty and staff members were present during the award ceremony.
