A Special Samvaad Series by IIITB Hackathon Winners

Hackathon is a buzzword in the world of information technology. A hackathon happens when teams of software developers come up with fantastic ideas that have real-world applications and they get to work making their idea happen. Hackathons are a great way to drive innovation forward and these competitions are platforms for newer and more fascinating ideas that are constantly created, paving the way to a better future.

That said, there are more things that one should know about hackathons. In a move to familiarize the students about hackathons, a special series of Samvaad talks was organized at IIIT Bangalore. Since Samvaad is a series of talks that gives a platform for exchange of ideas centered around research and innovation among students, faculties and experts from various domains, it became the right forum for hackathon winners to share their knowledge and experience with their peers.

Samvaad team, under the guidance of Prof. Sujit Kumar Chakrabarti, organized talks by some of the students who had participated and won in popular hackathons.

Hackathons are a predominant part of the lives of IIITB students, with numerous hackathons happening all around the year. These competitions give participants a chance to develop their technical skills in a unique way and express themselves via the use of cutting-edge technology. Hackathons have the potential to be an effective skill development platform useful for R&D happening in IIITB.

The projects and proposed business models of four such successful endeavours were discussed in this set of Samvaad talks. These talks enabled the audience to know the stories behind their success, from idea to implementation.

The talks were based on latest advancements in technologies and trends such as AR/VR, AI etc.

The participating teams discussed the nitty-gritty of the process and talked about the ‘hacks’ for winning hackathons.

From ETH India 2022:

Team 3: Divyam Agrawal, Gagan Agarwal and G Sri Harsha

Team 4: VigneshBondugula, Muppuri Siva Jagadesh, Vijay Jaisankar, DakannagariDhamodhar Reddy and VenkatSuprabathBitra

The audience comprised a diverse set of people, including professors, researchers, and students from various domains. The talks were followed by enthusiastic Q&A sessions.

These talks gave a comprehensive idea about the entire process of hackathons that provided guidance and inspiration for aspiring participants.
