Some important milestones in IIITB’s journey

September 18, 1998: IIIT Bangalore was registered as a Society with the name ‘Indian Institute of Information Technology’ under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960.
June 03, 1999: Prof. S Sadagopan joined as the Director of the Institute
July 08, 1999: IIIT Bangalore Lecture Series started with the first lecture delivered by Prof. Kenneth Keniston of MIT
September 15, 1999: Academic sessions started, and classes commenced.
September 15, 2000: The first Foundation Day was celebrated at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore
March 22, 2003: Prof. S Sadagopan moderated a talk with Scott McNealy, one of the founders of Sun Microsystems
July 26, 2000:  Dr. Radhakrishna Canchi, Nokia Research Center, gave a talk on ‘Bluetooth Technology’ as part of IIIT Bangalore Lecture Series
September 19, 2000:  Mr. T N Seshan, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, visited the campus
