September 18, 1998: IIIT Bangalore was registered as a Society with the name ‘Indian Institute of Information Technology’ under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960.

July 08, 1999: IIIT Bangalore Lecture Series started with the first lecture delivered by Prof. Kenneth Keniston of MIT
