Prof. Balaji Parthasarathy (with Raktima Kalita) led the presentation of the Fairwork India paper, ‘The Promise of flexibility, the experience of precarity: Gig work on digital platforms in India’ in the opening plenary session on New Technologies and the Emerging Labour Market: Global Perspectives, at the International Conference on New Technologies and the Future of Work in the Global South organsied by the Institute for Human Development, International Labour Organization and the University of the Witwatersrand’s Southern Center for Inequality Studies, in New Delhi, July 17-19. He was also invited to speak at the conference panel on Managing the Future of Work for Inclusive Development.
