ACM CODS COMAD 2021, a premier data science conference in India, was conducted from 2nd-4th January, for which IIIT Bangalore is the host institution. Prof. Jaya Sreevalsan Nair served as local arrangements co-chair, and IIITB students volunteered throughout the virtual conference, as well as presented a cultural performance for the social event on 3rd January.

 

Prof. Ashish Choudhury presented a 12 week course titled “Discrete Mathematics” on NPTEL which started from January 18.

Prof. Nanditha Rao was invited to deliver a virtual talk on “Advances in Processor architecture and Security” for the inauguration of VLSI Club in PES University on January 30.

 

Prof. Jaya Sreevalsan Nair is serving as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT) for two years term starting from January. The IEEE TCSVT covers all aspects of visual information relating to video or that have the potential to impact future developments in the field of video technology and video systems.

 

Prof. Jaya Sreevalsan Nair of IIIT Bangalore is serving as the chapter chair of the IEEE GRSS Bangalore Section for three years starting from January 2021. The new slate of members that took charge with her, consists of Dr. Shyam Lal, NIT Karnataka, as chapter vice-chair, Gurudatta Kannambadi, Aaron GSD, as chapter secretary, and Nagajothi Kannan, ISRO, as chapter treasurer. The outgoing chairs are Prof. Saroj Meher and Prof. B. S. Dayasagar, ISI Bangalore.
