Deepavali celebrations light up IIIT-B

The IIIT-B family united to celebrate Deepavali in full festive spirit. The campus was beautifully adorned with vibrant rangolis and glowing diyas, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A special puja was conducted to mark this auspicious occasion, and the entire community came together in joyful participation. The collective enthusiasm and involvement of everyone brought the true spirit of Deepavali to life, making it a memorable celebration for all.

A cultural extravaganza: Yakshagana adds color to Karnataka Rajyotsava festivities

IIIT-B celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava with great fervor, showcasing the rich cultural, geographical, and historical heritage of the state. The event featured a series of cultural performances that highlighted Karnataka’s vibrant traditions. A major highlight of the celebration was an enthralling Yakshagana performance, where eminent artists brought the stage to life with a captivating enactment of the Luv Kush story. Yakshagana, a traditional Indian performing art form originating from the coastal regions of Karnataka, blends dance, music, and drama to narrate tales from Hindu epics, mythology, and folklore. The performance, full of energy and vibrant storytelling, was enjoyed by students, faculty, staff, and guests, who all immersed themselves in this spectacular cultural experience.

IIIT-B hosted its annual public lecture series Bangalore on IT, featuring a talk titled “Building Generative AI for a Billion Voices,” delivered by Dr. Vivek Raghavan, co-founder of Sarvam.ai. The lecture focused on the exciting potential of Generative AI (GenAI) and its application in India, particularly in addressing the country’s diverse linguistic and cultural landscape. Dr. Raghavan emphasized the importance of creating AI systems that can effectively serve India’s billion-strong population, tackling challenges related to language diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity.

IIIT-B held a meeting with TESCO for prospects of future collaboration.


November 18

An MoU was signed between IIIT-Bangalore and Renesas, a leader in embedded semiconductor solution provider. This collaboration marks a step towards fostering meaningful partnership between industry and academia leading to increased innovation etc.


November 15

IIIT-B hosted a vibrant book fair titled “Bibliomania” on its campus to celebrate National Library Week. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Chandrashekar Ramanathan, Dean (Academics), and was met with great enthusiasm from students, faculty, and staff. Attendees had a wonderful time exploring a wide variety of books, immersing themselves in the world of literature, and fostering a love for reading.

The new Students’ Activity Council(SAC), took charge in the presence of former SAC, students, faculty and higher authorities.

The Jagriti Enterprise Mela by Jagriti Yatra, held at IIIT Bangalore on November 19, 2024, was a resounding success! The event brought together social enterprises focused on solving the pressing challenges of middle India. Participating organizations showcased their innovative solutions to an engaged audience of young, enterprising individuals eager to collaborate. The event featured insightful keynotes, panel discussions, and a surprise musical performance, creating a vibrant atmosphere for networking and partnership opportunities. It was a day full of inspiration, ideas, and potential collaborations, highlighting the power of social entrepreneurship to drive positive change.

The annual MOSIP All Hands meet was organised at IIIT-Bangalore. This provided a unique opportunity to reflect on the project’s journey, reconnect as a team, and celebrate its remarkable progress. The day was filled with insightful discussions, where team members shared stories of growth, celebrated both individual and collective achievements, and looked ahead to the exciting challenges and opportunities in MOSIP’s future.  For many, it was a refreshing change to meet in person after months of virtual interactions across cities and countries.

Cyber Security Essentials Programme was organised for Government of Karnataka officials at IIIT-B.

This programme is supported by Center for Technology Research and Innovation-Digital Governance (CTRI-DG).

IIIT-B commemorated World AIDS day by organizing a Health and Awareness Session.

IIIT-B celebrated Constitution Day on its campus, honoring the core values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The occasion featured an Oath Ceremony, where students, faculty, and staff reaffirmed their commitment to these constitutional principles. Additionally, a Constitution display was set up, and an engaging online quiz was organized to test knowledge and awareness about the Constitution. The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of upholding the values of justice, liberty, and equality, while fostering a deeper understanding of India’s constitutional framework.

Wellness Session for Students

In the midst of the exam season, IIIT-Bangalore students had a chance to unwind and recharge during a vibrant Wellness Session held at the institute’s football ground.

Organized in collaboration with TimesNow, Optum, and Radio Mirchi, the event was designed to help students de-stress and enjoy a fun-filled break. The highlight of the evening was a live performance by the sensational Kanya Band, whose electrifying music had everyone dancing and cheering. Adding to the excitement, RJ Guru from Radio Mirchi keeping the energy high.

Students relished the opportunity to dance, groove, and release all their exam-related pressure. Events like this showcase IIIT-Bangalore’s commitment to holistic student well-being, balancing academic rigor with opportunities for relaxation and recreation.


IIIT-B Hosts Virtual Round Table Meet on “FutureReady – The India Product Playbook”

The Department of Digital Humanities and Societal Systems (D-HSS) at IIIT-B organized a virtual round table meet titled “FutureReady – The India Produ ct Playbook”. This engaging session brought together eminent professionals and industry leaders to share insights and engage in thought-provoking discussions on the evolving landscape of product management and development in India.

The round table featured a distinguished panel of experts from various sectors, including product design, development, management, and human resources. The discussion was moderated by Prof. T.K. Srikanth, Professor and Head of EHRC, IIIT-B. The following industry leaders contributed their valuable perspectives:
