The month of August at IIIT-Bangalore was full of activities, visits, and festivals. The most important highlight was the visit of the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. We had the privilege of hosting the Honourable Prime Minister, along with the Honourable Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thawarchand Gehlot; the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddaramaiah; the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri D. K. Shivakumar; and other distinguished guests for the inauguration and foundation stone laying of major infrastructure projects that will shape the future of Bengaluru and the nation.
During the visit, our Chairman of the Governing Body, Padma Bhushan Shri S. Gopalakrishnan, and Director, Prof. Debabrata Das, had the honour of welcoming the Prime Minister to the IIIT-B campus and sharing the institute’s advances in research and development.

We celebrated the 79th Independence Day with pride, bringing the IIIT-B community together in the spirit of freedom and progress. The month also marked National Space Day, with a talk by Dr Prasanna Deshmukh, Engineer-D at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, who spoke about astronomical instruments and telescope control systems. Adding to the excitement, ECLIPSE, our Astronomy Club, displayed IIIT-B’s own telescope, giving students the chance to see the instrument up close and view fascinating celestial images.

The National Sports Day celebrations brought high energy to the campus, with a series of lively intra-college tournaments that encouraged teamwork and camaraderie. On the cultural front, August was also a time of devotion and festivity, with the IIIT-B family celebrating Varamahalakshmi and Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm.

The month concluded with the Graduation Ceremony of the Continuing Professional Education programmes, including the landmark partnership with upGrad, which marked its 10th anniversary and the graduation of 2,456 learners.

Overall, August was a month filled with pride, positivity, and progress, a reflection of IIIT-Bangalore’s vibrant campus life and its dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and community spirit.
