The 2nd batch students of IIIT-Bangalore reunited after 25 years. They invited all the faculty members who had taught them and the staff members who were part of their journey at that time, and felicitated them. Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, addressed the gathering and shared updates on the institute’s new infrastructure, research, and innovations. The alumni also toured the campus, reliving their student days and cherishing fond memories. It was a nostalgic and heartwarming moment for everyone.

The IIIT-Bangalore COMET Foundation organised a workshop on Scheduling Algorithms & Network Slicing. This specialised workshop brought together distinguished experts to explore the evolving landscape of scheduling algorithms and network slicing technologies.

Dr. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, opened the session with an insightful overview of current research at the institute, highlighting strategic directions and future opportunities in this critical domain.

It was a day of immense honour and pride at IIIT-Bangalore as we hosted the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi; the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thawarchand Gehlot; the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddaramaiah; the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri D. K. Shivakumar; and other eminent dignitaries for the inauguration and foundation stone laying of landmark infrastructure projects, shaping the future not just of Bengaluru, but of our nation.

Our Chairman, IIIT-B Governing Body, Padma Bhushan Shri S. Gopalakrishnan, and Director, Prof. Debabrata Das, had the privilege of welcoming the Hon’ble Prime Minister to the IIIT-B campus and sharing insights on the institute’s cutting-edge research and development.

The 3rd Cohort of Powergrid successfully graduated on 14th August 2025, with 49 participants completing the programme. IIIT-Bangalore celebrated the 79th Independence Day with pride and enthusiasm. The day began with the flag hoisting and an inspiring address by Director Prof. Debabrata Das, who spoke on Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047, urging all to contribute to the nation’s growth.

The celebrations continued with cultural performances by the Music Club (Symphony), Dance Club (Impulse), and Theatre Arts Club (Parvaz), reminding the audience of the true spirit of patriotism beyond digital platforms.

Ganesh Chaturthi at IIIT-Bangalore was celebrated with great joy and devotion as the campus came alive to welcome Bappa. The arrival procession of Lord Ganesha’s idol filled the air with chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya, music, and cheerful energy as students walked together in celebration.
The festivities concluded with a vibrant Visarjan, marked by colours, dance, and heartfelt emotions, joy for the memories created and a touch of sorrow in bidding farewell. More than tradition, the celebration reflected togetherness, gratitude, and the spirit of community that makes IIIT-B special.

IIIT-Bangalore marked National Space Day 2025 with curiosity, discovery, and excitement in an event organised by the ECLIPSE Astronomy Club. Students from across the campus came together to explore the wonders of astronomy through insightful talks, interactive displays, and engaging activities.

The celebrations opened with an inspiring session by Dr Prasanna Deshmukh, Engineer-D at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, who specialises in astronomical instrumentation and telescope control systems. He spoke with passion about telescopes, their design, types, and the vital role they play in deepening our understanding of the universe.

This year, National Sports Day marked the grand finale of a week-long series of spirited sports events on campus. The newly formed Sports Committee, with the support of Dr. Neha Arora, Sports Officer, IIIT-Bangalore, ensured smooth organization and maintained the energy throughout the week.

The celebrations concluded with a felicitation ceremony attended by the Director, Professor Debabrata Das, the Registrar, Commodore S R Sridhar (Retd.), and the Sports Officer, Dr. Neha Arora, who appreciated the players and the Sports Committee for their efforts.

IIIT-Bangalore hosted its Graduation Ceremony for Continuing Professional Education Programmes, where 2,456 learners graduated. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of learners across online programmes such as the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Data Science, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development. Around 500 learners attended the event in person, while over 1,500 joined online from across the globe.
