September at IIIT-B: A Month of Celebration and Achievements
September has always been one of the most vibrant months on campus, filled with festivals, events, and activities. This year began with the eagerly awaited NIRF Rankings, where IIIT-Bangalore rose to the 69th position in the NIRF 2025 Engineering Rankings. Among 1,584 engineering colleges across India, this steady progress reaffirms the institute’s strong standing and continued commitment to academic excellence, research, and innovation.
Adding to the month’s pride, IIIT-Bangalore received the Global Green University Award at the Green School Conference 2025, held at the ILR School, Cornell University, New York. Prof. Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT-B, accepted the award on behalf of the institute. This marks the third consecutive year that IIIT-B has earned this global distinction, underscoring its leadership in promoting sustainability across academics, research, and campus life.
The campus also came alive with cultural celebrations. Onam festivities brought joy and colour, with students, faculty, and staff coming together around beautifully designed pookalams.
September also marked IIIT-B’s 27th Foundation Day on 18th September 2025, celebrating nearly three decades of growth since its inception in 1998. Over the years, IIIT-B has grown into one of the country’s leading technology and research hubs, nurturing innovation and shaping bright young minds year after year. On this occasion, faculty members were honoured for their outstanding contributions in Research & High-Impact Publications and in the area of Teaching, recognising their excellence and dedication to the institute’s mission.
As the month also included Teachers’ Day, students expressed their gratitude by presenting handwritten cards to their professors — a heartfelt gesture of appreciation.
Our NSS club, Aikyam, organized fundraiser events, including Garba nights, with the collected funds dedicated to celebrating Deepavali with our supporting staff and their families and providing them with essential daily supplies. Continuing the festive spirit, the campus also celebrated Dussehra with devotion and enthusiasm, as students took part in traditional rituals.
Alongside all the festivities, the institute hosted several invited lectures and visits, making September one of the busiest and most fulfilling months of the year for IIIT-Bangalore.
