Prof. Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT-Bangalore, presented IIITB COMET Foundation’s innovative R&D products in advanced communication to Shri Jitendra Singh, Minister of Science & Technology, at India Mobile Congress 2025 in New Delhi on October 08, 2025. COMET Foundation, a flagship National Mission – ICPS project by DST, GoI, is driving the future of communication technology.

Prof. TK Srikanth, Principal Investigator, Tele MANAS, and Professor of Practice, E-Health Research Center (EHRC) , IIIT-Bangalore, was part of the World Mental Health Day 2025 celebrations in New Delhi, where Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, launched new initiatives for Tele MANAS.
The multilingual Tele MANAS app now features content in 12 languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bangla, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu). It also offers enhanced accessibility, a chat feature (with chatbot Asmi) for users to engage with the app, and an emergency module for guidance and support during crises.
Prof. T K Srikanth highlighted that the enhancements will enable a seamless flow of information. He also mentioned that data security and privacy are built into the system, and the modular design of the app will ensure that new features can be easily added over time.

His Excellency Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President of Brazil, along with a delegation of senior officials, held a meeting in New Delhi with Prof. Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT-Bangalore; Mr. Shankar Maruwada, Advisor, COSS&EkStep and Mr. Ramesh MC, Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Open Societal Systems (COSS-DPI CoE), IIIT-Bangalore.
The Government of Brazil and the Centre for Open Societal Systems at IIIT-Bangalore have been collaborating and are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for further cooperation soon. Congratulations to the COSS team.

Prof. Aswin Kannan was one of the panel members for the promotions committee at CDOT (Center for Development of Telematics) in Bengaluru – this was pertaining to promotions of Research Staff Members from Scientist level “D” to level “E”.


October 29, 2025

Prof. Jaya Sreevalsan Nair was one of the external examiners for the Ph.D. thesis examination of Ms. Jisha Mariyam John, Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam, October 2025. Thesis title: “The Structural Robustness of Real-world Weighted Networks: A Quantitative Analysis with Thresholding and Robustness Indicators.”
