Students from IIIT-B developed a tool to generate extremely compact and optimized pipelined micro-processors that support RISC-V ISA. These processors have been specifically designed to leverage RISCV’s customization features and open source compiler modification to deliver exceptionally small silicon area, low power and minimal code-footprint, thereby equipping developers with a 32-bit processor with a c-compiler. These processors are suitable for a wide range of constrained and deeply embedded applications such as mixed-signal embedded processing (e.g. signal processing, sensor-based applications), wireless communications ICs (e.g. Bluetooth, Zigbee, or GPS), and industrial microcontrollers. They can also be effectively deployed as a secondary controller processor in much larger and complex SoC designs (like subsystem for controllers).

Congratulations to Prof. Preeti Mudliar on receiving a $20,000 unrestricted gift from Google Research as part of its Artists and Machine Intelligence program!
Her proposal, titled “Machine Words, Synthetic Art: Practices and Tensions with AI Visual Art in India,” aims to explore the creative and ethical conversations around AI tools in visual art, assess the awareness and anxieties toward AI art in traditional artisan communities, and document public perceptions of AI-generated visual art. This research will also play a key role in shaping curriculum and course building around AI and the Arts.
Wishing her the best for a successful study with impactful outcomes. We can’t wait to see the amazing work that will come out of this!
