IIIT-B recently hosted an engaging Invited Talk titled “A Chemical Flavor for Networks”, presented by Prof. Anjan Kr Dasgupta, a distinguished retired professor from the University of Calcutta. The session explored fascinating insights into evolutionary chemical structures, biomolecular formations, and the physical principles underlying chemical reaction networks, including the Onsager approach. Attended by both faculty and students, the talk sparked deep intellectual curiosity, leading to thought-provoking discussions. Prof. Dasgupta’s explanations not only shed light on complex scientific concepts but also encouraged attendees to delve further into the interdisciplinary connections between chemistry and network structures. The interactive session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where he adeptly addressed queries, leaving the audience with new perspectives and a thirst for further exploration.

IIIT-B and Nokia Sign MoU to Strengthen Industry-Academia Collaboration

IIIT-B and Nokia inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the IIIT-B campus. This collaboration aims to strengthen industry-academia relations, enhance experiential learning, and equip students with industry-relevant skills in emerging technologies.
The partnership is designed to foster stronger ties between academia and industry, with key objectives including:

  • Advancing research in cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation and real-world solutions.
  • Bridging the gap between industry and academia through collaborative projects.
  • Providing students with industry exposure to prepare them for future technological advancements.
  • Enhancing skill development through hands-on training and experiential learning.

This MoU marks a significant step towards strengthening industry-academia collaboration, ensuring that students are well-equipped to contribute to the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

IIIT-Bangalore’s Annual Cultural Fest Infin8 2025: Resounding Success

IIIT-B hosted its much-anticipated annual inter-college cultural fest, Infin8 from February 7-9, 2025, in a vibrant celebration of talent and creativity. This year’s edition, themed “Odyssey Osaka”, a fusion of the traditional Japanese culture and modernized ideas, turned the campus into a vibrant hub of cultural exchange and artistic expression.
Spanning three electrifying days, Infin8 2025 featured an array of performances, competitions, and engaging activities. More than 700 students from 21 colleges participated in 26 diverse events, ranging from singing, dance, photography, acting, quizzes, ramp shows, poetry, and video games. With a total prize pool of INR 2.5 lakh, the festival offered a highly competitive yet exhilarating platform for young artists and performers.
One of the major highlights of the event was the mesmerizing performance by renowned mentalist Karan Singh, who left audiences spellbound with his mind-bending illusions. The festival also featured a soulful musical opening act by Akshay and Ashwin Mandoth, setting the perfect mood for Day 2. The lineup of events included enthralling band performances, rib-tickling stand-up comedy, and a grand finale featuring the high-energy rock band Oxygen On The Rocks. The festival concluded on an electrifying note with an unforgettable DJ night, where attendees danced to pulsating beats, celebrating the grand success of Infin8 2025.
With its diverse lineup of events and enthusiastic participation, Infin8 continues to be a beacon of artistic brilliance and cultural unity among students. IIIT-Bangalore looks forward to yet another edition of this exhilarating festival next year, promising more talent, entertainment, and unforgettable moments.

IIIT-B Signs SoW with IAF- Software Development Institute

The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) has signed a SoW with the Software Development Institute, Indian Air Force (SDI, IAF) for joint research, design, and development of waveform. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening India’s self-reliance towards critical defence technologies.
Under this partnership, IIIT-B will serve as the technical institution, conducting cutting-edge research and development (R&D) in collaboration with SDI-IAF, which is sponsoring the project. IIIT-B will provide the necessary resources and support for certification, ensuring the project meets the highest standards of reliability and effectiveness.
This partnership strengthens IIIT-B’s role in defence technology research and paves the way for future collaborations, reinforcing India’s capabilities in indigenous technological advancements.

K-VLSI cohort 2 orientation at IIIT-B: Fostering Innovation in Electronics

IIIT-B welcomed the students of Cohort 2 of Karnataka-VLSI (K-VLSI) programme
The K-VLSI programme is meticulously designed to equip students with essential skills required for the thriving Electronics System Design industry.
This impactful programme is a collaborative effort by the MINRO Center at IIIT-Bangalore, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL), and the IT BT Department, Karnataka
144 students who have completed their 7th semester are part of this programme, representing 60+ engineering colleges across Karnataka. Wishing all the students a rewarding and successful learning experience!

A FinQ Session, a specially designed financial training workshop was conducted by ICICI Bank at IIIT-B aimed at enhancing financial literacy. The session provided valuable insights into financial planning, investing, and saving strategies, empowering attendees with practical knowledge to make informed financial decisions. The interactive workshop covered key concepts, tips on effective money management, and strategies for building a secure financial future. Participants found the session highly beneficial, gaining a deeper understanding of financial wellness and smarter investment practices.

IIIT-Bangalore Hosts RISE 2025: A Convergence of Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship
IIIT-Bangalore successfully hosted the 8th edition of RISE (Research, Innovation, Society, and Entrepreneurship), an annual event that brings together students, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore cutting-edge advancements in technology and innovation. The two-day event provided an immersive platform for knowledge exchange, industry collaborations, and research opportunities, reaffirming IIIT-B’s commitment to fostering technological progress with real-world impact.

RISE Innovation Conclave 2025: Spotlight on 5G/6G and Emerging Technologies
The first day of RISE 2025, RISE Innovation Conclave, focused on the theme “Empowering the Future: The 5G/6G Disrupt”, delving into how next-generation communication technologies are revolutionizing critical sectors such as healthcare and smart manufacturing. The conclave brought together leading experts from academia, industry, and policy-making to discuss the transformative potential of these technologies.
Key sessions included:

  • Inaugural Session: “Transforming India’s Communication Landscape: The 5G/6G Revolution” – An insightful discussion on India’s progress in next-generation communication.
  • Healthcare Track: “Revolutionizing Healthcare in the 5G/6G Era” – Exploring advancements in telemedicine, remote surgery, and medical innovations.
  • Manufacturing Track: “Industry 4.0: Smart Manufacturing in the 5G/6G Era” – Examining automation, digital twins, and predictive maintenance.
  • Closing Fireside Chat: “The Road to 6G” – A forward-looking discussion on emerging applications and policy considerations for 6G.

Participants had the opportunity to engage in keynote speeches, panel discussions, technology showcases, and networking sessions, gaining valuable insights into the latest research and industry trends.

RISE Open House 2025: Showcasing Breakthrough Research and Collaborations
The second day, RISE Open House 2025, featured an impressive display of over 80 research posters and demonstrations, covering diverse domains such as Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Network Communications, IT and Society, and VLSI. Students, scholars, and industry professionals explored groundbreaking research, fostering interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

A major highlight of the event was the keynote address by Ms. Suma Varughese, Director General of DRDO, on “Emerging Technologies: Shaping the Future”. She discussed the role of academic research in advancing autonomous systems, AI-driven decision-making, high-quality sensors, secure communications, and advanced computing for defense applications.

Beyond research presentations, RISE Open House provided exclusive internship opportunities, allowing students to apply for 20 research internships to work alongside top researchers in their respective fields. Hands-on workshops conducted by IIIT-B’s research centers, including COMET Foundation, CAGS, E-Health Research Centre, and the Centre for Applied Sciences, further enriched the learning experience.

Sangam 2024: An Evening of Nostalgia, Celebration, and Togetherness

Sangam 2024 was more than just a reunion—it was a heartfelt celebration of IIIT-B’s legacy, a night where the past and present intertwined in a symphony of memories and new beginnings. Alumni from various batches returned to their alma mater, rekindling old friendships, sharing stories, and creating new connections.

The evening commenced with a grand address by our esteemed Director, Prof. Debabrata Das, setting the tone for a night of camaraderie and joy. Ms. Roshni Dsouza, Senior Outreach Officer, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the strength of the IIIT-B community. The night was further enlivened by spectacular performances—Symphony, the music club, mesmerized the audience, Impulse set the stage ablaze with their dynamic dance performance, and Parvaaz transported everyone into a world of emotions with their theatrical act. The highlight of the evening was the electrifying special act by ‘Let’s Jam’, filling the air with energy and rhythm.

Families joined in the celebrations, reliving the IIIT-B spirit. There was also opportunity to contribute for the Student Benevolent Fund, encouraging alumni to give back by assisting talented students in need. As conversations flowed over delicious food and student-run stalls, Sangam 2024 proved to be a night where time stood still, reminding everyone that no matter where life takes them, IIIT-B will always be home.

RISE Ph.D. Colloquium: A Platform for Research Scholars


The RISE Ph.D. Colloquium provided a dedicated platform for Ph.D. scholars and research students to present their work through flash talks, poster sessions, and interactive discussions. The colloquium featured research in diverse areas such as AI, e-Health, digital data, and cybersecurity, offering scholars an opportunity to gain feedback, connect with experts, and explore potential collaborations.
RISE 2025 reaffirmed IIIT-Bangalore’s commitment to advancing research with tangible societal benefits. By facilitating industry-academic collaborations, fostering innovation, and promoting translatable research, the event successfully highlighted IIIT-B’s role in shaping the future of technology.
