Team Whooshing Liars-comprising Integrated M.Tech. students Chaitya Shah, Krish Patel, Krishna Sai Velidanda, Ramya Parsania, and Satyam Ambi -secured 2nd place at the Truthtell Hackathon during the WAVES Summit 2025.

The Truthtell Hackathon was a national-level competition organized by ICEA as part of the Create in India Challenge (CIC). The hackathon, which ran from December 2024 to April 2025, culminated at the WAVES Summit held in Mumbai from May 1–4, 2025.

As part of the final evaluation, Team Whooshing Liars was invited to Delhi, where they presented a working prototype of their solution to a panel of industry experts and government representatives.

With over 5,600+ registrations from across the country, the hackathon challenged participants to build real-time, AI-powered solutions to detect and combat misinformation, particularly during live broadcasts. The focus was on scalable NLP and machine learning approaches to assist broadcasters, journalists, and the public.

What the team built:
They developed a comprehensive AI-powered web platform designed to tackle the misinformation crisis using real-time verification and advanced fact-checking tools.

Soumaditya Chaudhuri, an MS by Research student at IIIT-B, won the Best Paper Award in Track 2 at the 6th IEEE International Conference on Control, Communication and Computing (ICCC 2025) for his paper titled “Multi-RIS-based Target Positioning in Passive Radars” that has been co authoured by Prof. Jyotsna Bapat and Prof. Amrita Mishra. The conference was organized by the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala,


Congratulations to Prof. Dinesh Babu Jayagopi for being awarded the Indo-Italian Mobility Grant based on a proposal submitted under the Indo-Italian call by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). His proposal was one of only ten selected—an impressive achievement.

Prof. Dinesh will serve as Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) alongside Dr. Radoslaw Niewiadomski from the University of Genoa, Italy, who is the partner PI from the Italian side.


Prof. Jaya Sreevalsan Nair has been awarded the Best Associate Editor Award (2024) by the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT).
She served as the Associate Editor at TCSVT for two consecutive terms during 2021-24 and this is her second time receiving the honour, with the first in 2021. She is currently serving as a Senior Associate Editor there. Congratulations on this continued recognition of her editorial leadership and contributions to the research community!
