May 6-7

The Centre for Open Societal Systems (COSS) convened its Executive Committee (EC) and International Advisory Council (ICA) meetings on May 6 and 7, 2025. Distinguished members of both bodies addressed the gathering and shared insights and perspectives, including first-hand accounts of how some of the country’s biggest and most impactful initiatives were conceived and brought to life. COSS team members provided detailed updates on work across projects such as Sunbird, AI4X, OAN and Country Engagements, and actively sought feedback from the EC and IAC. Their guidance continues to help COSS pioneer solutions of scale to bring about high-impact solutions globally.

May 12-16

The IIITB–AiVancity Datathon Week 2025 was held from 12th to 16th May at Amantran, IIIT Bangalore, with 18 students from IIITB and 12 from AiVancity working in six teams. The datathon was centered on the theme “”Fixing a Failing Product” – A Review -Driven Business Rescue Mission”. Technologies and datasets used were Python, Hugging Face, and the Amazon Reviews Dataset. The event was mentored by Prof. G S Raghavan and Mr. Arijit Chowdhury, fostering collaboration and innovation across institutions.


May 16-17

The Centre for Information Technology and Public Policy (CITAPP) organized a workshop with the Government of Victoria’s Office of Trade and Investment to facilitate knowledge exchange on digital governance and technology policy. The workshop featured a series of insightful sessions, including Innovation in India, Digital Accessibility, Analogue to Digital Trade, Gig Lane, Going Beyond the Obvious, and a unique Theatre Application-based Workshop.


May 22-25

The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) recently hosted the ACM India Boot Camp on AI Development Life Cycle, a comprehensive hands-on training programme designed to strengthen foundational skills in programming, data structures, and algorithms. Led by seasoned experts from both academia and industry, the boot camp aimed to enhance participants’ problem-solving abilities and coding proficiency. Through a blend of expert-led sessions and practical exercises, the programme provided valuable exposure to the demands of competitive programming, research, and real-world technical challenges.

IIIT-B organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the students as part of the IIIT-B–AiVancity Student Exchange Programme.
