Our B.Tech. students Kabir Ahuja, Navya Balaji, Abhyudaya Singh, Aangir Doshi, Soham Banerjee, and Hemant Jagnani emerged victorious at the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 Grand Finale, held from December 8–9, 2025, in Meghalaya.
The 8th edition of the Smart India Hackathon, a national-level innovation challenge, witnessed nearly 72,000 idea submissions from across the country. From these, around 1,300 teams were shortlisted across 271 problem statements, with one winning team selected for each problem statement. The shortlisted teams advanced to the Grand Finale, presenting solutions to real-world challenges posed by various government ministries, departments, and state agencies.
Competing under Problem Statement PS25185, “AI-Powered DPR Quality Assessment and Risk Prediction System for MDoNER,” Team NEXUS_IIITB qualified as one of the top five teams in their category. Over the course of the 36-hour Grand Finale hackathon, the team developed and demonstrated a fully functional working prototype, integrated their solution with existing government workflows, and ultimately won their problem statement.

IIIT-Bangalore received the “Top 50 IP Driven Organisation in India” Award at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Global Summit on Technology, R&D and Intellectual Property 2025. The award was received by Cdr. J. V. Prasad (Retd.), Executive Officer (R&D), IIIT-Bangalore, on December 17, 2025, in New Delhi, India.
