IIIT-Bangalore Awarded Patent for Innovative Data Privacy Method
IIIT-Bangalore was granted an Indian patent for a novel method called ‘Multi-Class Classifier with Artificial and Anonymous Training for Data Privacy’. The inventors of this patent were Dibakar Das, Prof. Jyotsna Bapat, Vikram Seshasai, Vineet Sudhir Bhat, Pushkal Juneja and Prof. Debabrata Das.
IIIT-Bangalore Students Secure First Runners-Up in Amazon’s Hackon Hackathon
Integrated M.Tech students Shivankar Pilligundla, Monjoy Narayan Choudhury and Naitik Solanki achieved the first runners-up position in Amazon’s Hackon Hackathon, a prestigious national competition. The challenge was to ideate and innovate groundbreaking solutions in visual AI for e-commerce. After several rounds of shortlisting, only eight teams, including IIIT-Bangalore’s representatives, advanced to the finale. There, they presented their innovative solutions to a panel of Amazon’s senior leadership.
IIIT-Bangalore Innovators Win ELCIA Hackathon with Breakthrough Braille Tech
Integrated M.Tech. students Divyansh Singhal, Yash Gupta and Daksh Sharma won the first place in the ELCIA Next-Gen Innovative Tech Hackathon with their creation, the ‘Wearable Haptic Braille Device.’ This innovative device offers a transformative solution for the visually impaired by converting information into dynamic haptic patterns and vibrations, allowing users to interpret visual data through touch. The team was guided by their mentor, Prof. Madhav Rao.
Prof. Meenakshi D’Souza was elected as the President of the ACM India Council for the term from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026. She had actively contributed to the ACM India Council since 2018 and previously served as the Secretary cum Treasurer from July 2022 to June 2024.

Prof. Tulika Saha’s research on Mental Health, specifically the paper, “A Shoulder to Cry On: Towards a Motivational Virtual Assistant for Assuaging Mental Agony” was felicitated at the Nasscom AI confluence with the “Nasscom AI Gamechanger Award 2023-24”. This paper was accepted at NAACL-2022.
