IIIT-Bangalore successfully hosted the 8th edition of RISE (Research, Innovation, Society, and Entrepreneurship), from February 21-22 an annual event that brings together students, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore cutting-edge advancements in technology and innovation. The two-day event provided an immersive platform for knowledge exchange, industry collaborations, and research opportunities, reaffirming IIIT-B’s commitment to fostering technological progress with real-world impact.
RISE Innovation Conclave 2025: Spotlight on 5G/6G and Emerging Technologies
The first day of RISE 2025, RISE Innovation Conclave, focused on the theme “Empowering the Future: The 5G/6G Disrupt”, delving into how next-generation communication technologies are revolutionizing critical sectors such as healthcare and smart manufacturing. The conclave brought together leading experts from academia, industry, and policy-making to discuss the transformative potential of these technologies.
Key sessions included:
- Inaugural Session: “Transforming India’s Communication Landscape: The 5G/6G Revolution” – An insightful discussion on India’s progress in next-generation communication.
- Healthcare Track: “Revolutionizing Healthcare in the 5G/6G Era” – Exploring advancements in telemedicine, remote surgery, and medical innovations.
- Manufacturing Track: “Industry 4.0: Smart Manufacturing in the 5G/6G Era” – Examining automation, digital twins, and predictive maintenance.
- Closing Fireside Chat: “The Road to 6G” – A forward-looking discussion on emerging applications and policy considerations for 6G.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in keynote speeches, panel discussions, technology showcases, and networking sessions, gaining valuable insights into the latest research and industry trends.
RISE Open House 2025: Showcasing Breakthrough Research and Collaborations
The second day, RISE Open House 2025, featured an impressive display of over 80 research posters and demonstrations, covering diverse domains such as Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Network Communications, IT and Society, and VLSI. Students, scholars, and industry professionals explored groundbreaking research, fostering interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
A major highlight of the event was the keynote address by Ms. Suma Varughese, Director General of DRDO, on “Emerging Technologies: Shaping the Future”. She discussed the role of academic research in advancing autonomous systems, AI-driven decision-making, high-quality sensors, secure communications, and advanced computing for defense applications.
Beyond research presentations, RISE Open House provided exclusive internship opportunities, allowing students to apply for 20 research internships to work alongside top researchers in their respective fields. Hands-on workshops conducted by IIIT-B’s research centers, including COMET Foundation, CAGS, E-Health Research Centre, and the Centre for Applied Sciences, further enriched the learning experience.
