On 18th September 2025, IIIT-Bangalore proudly celebrated its 27th Foundation Day , a moment that marked nearly three decades of growth since its humble beginnings in 1998. From a small institute with big dreams, IIIT-B has today become one of the country’s leading technology hubs, nurturing innovation and shaping bright young minds year after year.
The celebrations began on a soulful note with Symphony, the music club, setting the mood for the evening. Their performances filled the hall with energy and warmth, and the debut of their original piece Tangerine, performed by the fourth- and fifth-year students, completely stole the show, leaving the audience deeply moved. Just as the applause settled, the hall was once again buzzing , this time with a thunderous drumming performance by none other than our Dean of Academics, Professor Chandrashekhar Ramanathan. His electrifying beats lit up the stage and had everyone cheering.
Soon after, Symphony and Impulse, the dance club, came together for a graceful Bharatanatyam performance. The elegance, rhythm, and poise of the piece had the audience captivated, earning heartfelt applause.
The evening also saw important formal moments. The newly elected Student Affairs Council (SAC) members took their oaths, pledging to carry forward another successful year. Outgoing SAC members were honoured for their excellence in carrying this year’s Infin8 to a huge success. It was then followed by the felicitation of Synergy members, who were recognized for taking the annual tech fest to new heights.
The spotlight then turned to the Faculty Awards 2025, where professors were celebrated not just for their research and teaching, but also for the lasting impact they’ve had on students and the institute’s journey. The cultural spirit returned with Impulse once more, delivering a breathtaking series of performances that kept the audience hooked to their seats, with cheers and applause breaking out after every sequence.
Finally, the evening drew to a fitting close with Parvaaz, the theatre club, staging Knot for Sale. This witty early-2000s style comedy-drama explored how webs of lies ripple outwards — affecting not only those who weave them, but also everyone around. The play had the audience laughing, reflecting, and thoroughly entertained.
