Convocation is one of the most important milestones in a student’s life. This year, it was equally a milestone for the institute, as IIIT-Bangalore celebrated its 25th Annual Convocation. The ceremony was held on July 6, 2025, on campus, where 372 students graduated across diverse academic programmes, 142 from the Integrated M.Tech. programme, 192 from the Master of Technology programme, 12 from the M.Sc. in Digital Society programme, 10 from the Master of Science by Research programme, and 16 Ph.D. scholars.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest, Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director, IISc Bangalore, and Guest of Honour, Dr. Venkat Padmanabhan, Managing Director, Microsoft Research India. The event was presided over by Padma Bhushan Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairman, IIIT-Bangalore Governing Body, and Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore.
While congratulating the students, Prof. Debabrata Das said, “As we celebrate the 25th Convocation of IIIT-Bangalore, I take great pride in recognising the exceptional accomplishments of the graduating Class of 2025. This cohort has demonstrated extraordinary talent and dedication across frontier areas such as AI/ML, Computer Science, Wireless Communication, Networking, Natural Language Processing, VLSI and advanced Software Systems and Digital society. Their journey has been marked by significant victories in global hackathons and innovation challenges, impactful research published at prestigious international platforms, and the receipt of highly competitive scholarships and grants. Notably, several students have secured patents, a testament to their drive for real-world innovation. In their diversity lies their strength, and in their unity of purpose, they exemplify the values of integrity, excellence, and community that define IIIT-B.”
The highlights of the ceremony included celebrating student achievements through awards and medals. The Institute Gold Medals were awarded to Valipireddy Pranathi (M.Tech.), Monjoy Narayan Choudhury (Integrated M.Tech.), and Sookthi Bhat Kav (M.Sc. Digital Society). The Late Sri N. Rama Rao Medal for Entrepreneur of the Year was awarded to Ananda Prakash Verma.
Since its establishment in 1998, IIIT-Bangalore has consistently achieved outstanding placement results year after year. This success is largely due to the strong support from the industry and the ever-growing network of talented and accomplished alumni. This year, one of our Integrated M.Tech. students secured a record package of INR 1.45 crore, the highest in the history of IIIT-Bangalore.
As we celebrate this Silver Jubilee Convocation, IIIT-Bangalore looks forward to nurturing the next generation of innovators, leaders, and change makers. The journey of our graduates has only just begun, and we take immense pride in their achievements as they step forward to make a global impact.
