IIIT-Bangalore COMET Foundation signed an MoU with Intellipaat Software Solutions Pvt Ltd on October 4, 2024. Intellipaat is a leading ed-tech company known for skilling and reskilling students and executives.

As part of this MoU, Intellipaat will design and deliver a course on Embedded Systems and IoT for students and working professionals. The course will be delivered in a hybrid mode over 6-7 weeks, including a one-week immersion program at the IIIT-B COMET Foundation.


 The DHN Innovation Challenge 2024 successfully wrapped up on October 6, 2024, at the IIIT-Bangalore campus, with a showcase of healthcare innovations addressing pressing issues in the sector.

Organized by Digital Health News (DHN) in partnership with IIIT-Bangalore, 100X.VC, and ScaleHealthTech, the event focused on leveraging technology to improve patient care and healthcare delivery in India. Ninth Dimension served as the program partner for this year’s challenge, which attracted leading innovators and startups from across the nation. Startup Karnataka and K-tech supported the event.

Over 200 startups participated in this year’s challenge, with 14 shortlisted for the pitch stage. Five finalists were selected to present at the demo day, showcasing groundbreaking solutions to critical challenges in India’s healthcare system.

The event was attended by Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-B, and Mr. Vishnu Saxena of DHN.

The top prize went to MedySeva, a startup offering telemedicine services focused on affordable healthcare access for underserved rural communities. Their platform connects patients in remote areas with qualified medical professionals, improving access to essential health services in regions with limited medical infrastructure. The runners-up were MicroHeal, which developed an innovative protocol combining Drug + DTx to improve outcomes for chronic gut conditions, and Marbles Health, a mental health support startup with an AI-driven platform.


As part of the Navaratri celebration, IIIT-Bangalore held a Saraswathi Puja on October 7, 2024, on campus. Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore; the Registrar; CAO; CFO; Deans; HoDs; faculty; and staff members were present at the puja.


World Mental Health Day was observed on October 10, 2024, with this year’s theme as “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health at the Workplace.” On this day, the Union Health Ministry celebrated the success of the National Tele Mental Health Programme, Tele MANAS, which has completed two years of service and has handled more than 14.5 lakh calls. The Tele MANAS toll-free helpline, available at 14416 or 1-800-891-4416, offers multilingual support in 20 languages and has been instrumental in connecting individuals with mental health professionals.

At the commemoration event in New Delhi, Smt. Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary of MoHFW & Managing Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) launched the Tele MANAS mobile app and the video call facility in Tele MANAS.

The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-Bangalore) is proud of its role in the development of the Tele MANAS mobile app, designed to offer free and confidential 24/7 mental health support across India. Developed entirely in-house with content and guidance provided by the Tele MANAS Apex Centre at NIMHANS, the app is available on the Google Play Store, with an iOS version coming soon. The Tele MANAS app provides a comprehensive set of services aimed at promoting mental well-being and reducing stigma around mental health. Key features of the app include 24/7 mental health support, an extensive knowledge base, and user-friendly interface.

Video consultations in Tele MANAS represent a significant upgrade to the existing audio calling service. When necessary, mental health professionals can initiate video consultations, providing a more personalized experience and better care to the users. Initially, this service will be launched in Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, and Tamil Nadu, with plans to expand it nationwide in the future.

The Report of Tele MANAS Rapid Assessment by the World Health Organizations (WHO) was also released at the event.


IIIT-Bangalore conducted sessions for the professionals from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited who had enrolled for the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence from 16th October to 18th October at IIIT-B Campus. This is the 3rd Cohort. IIIT-Bangalore’s faculty members mentored the learners. In-person interaction with faculty members helped the learners to plan their career growth and project work too.


IIIT-Bangalore organized a Cybersecurity Essentials Programme for Government of Karnataka officials from October 18-19, 2024. This programme is supported by Center for Technology Research and Innovation-Digital Governance (CTRI-DG).


On 19th October, the IIIT-B community came together to celebrate Navratri in a grand and colourful manner with a Garba Night. The Garba is an expression of devotion to Goddess Durga, and is celebrated as a part of Navratri, a festival that celebrates her nine forms, extending over 9 different nights: one for each form. The dance is performed with simple movements and clapping in a circle around a symbol of the goddess, representing the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth.


Aikyam hosted a memorable event on the joyous occasion of Deepavali, celebrated on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th of October. This event was a vibrant fusion of music, fashion, and culture, all brought together by a shared spirit of unity and celebration


Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, shared his Deepavali greetings with the supporting staff of IIIT-Bangalore by distributing sweets and bonuses to them on October 29, 2024.
