August 3-9

Pooja Bassin, a PhD student at IIIT-Bangalore presented her paper titled “Design of a Data-driven Intervention Dashboard for SDG Localization” at the 33rd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence held from August 3 – August 9, 2024, at Jeju Island, South Korea. Abraham G K and Prof. Srinath Srinivasa are the co-authors of this paper.


August 15

Prof. Balaji Parthasarathy and Prof. V Sridhar led the discussions at the Australia India InnovEd Roundtable on Building Evidence and Measuring Impact of Online and Hybrid Learning held in Melbourne on August 15. A partnership between IIIT-Bangalore’s Center for Information Technology and Public Policy (CITAPP), the Australia India Institute, and EduGrowth: Australia’s EdTech Hub, the Roundtable provided a unique platform to delve into the data and evidence supporting digital education in Australia and India. The diverse perspectives, shared by representatives from academia, government, and industry, enhanced our understanding of integrating and implementing e-learning.


August 23

Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, presented a keynote address at the IEEE INDISCON 2024 Conference held on August 23, 2024 in Chandigarh. His talk, titled “Atmanirbhar 5G-Advanced ORAN Base Station Technologies,” showcased the research and development achievements of COMET in this field, highlighting India’s progress towards self-reliance in 5G technology.


August 26

Prof. Sushree Behera delivered a talk at the Faculty Development Program (FDP) organized by the CBCMT department at VIT Vellore on the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare. The session was an overview of how AI is revolutionizing the medical field—from enhancing diagnostic accuracy and optimizing treatment plans to personalizing patient care and accelerating drug discovery. She also talked about EHRC and its interdisciplinary research in the domain of Healthcare.


August 28-30

M.Sc. Digital Society student, Naga Sai Jagadeesh Chitroju attended the Global Fintech Fest (GFF), an annual fintech conference organised by the Payments Council of India (PCI), the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Fintech Convergence Council (FCC) during 28-30 August at Mumbai, Jio World Convention Centre.

Naga Sai works in the area of Multi-Party Privacy under Prof.V Sridhar as applicable to digital lending in India as part of a project funded by the Centre for Effective Global Action, University of California, Berkeley.

August 26-28

Apurva Kulkarni (Post-doc) presented the research paper “SDG Aligned Data Warehouse Implementation over Open Government Data” at the DEXA, Electronic Government and the Information Systems Perspective (EGOVIS) held at Naples, Italy.

Prof. Srinath Srinivasa, IIIT-B and Dr. Sanket Patil, Dataweave are the co-author of this paper.


August 30

Prof. V. Sridhar was an Invited panelist in the on-line panel discussion on “Big Tech & Competition – What’s New and What’s Not?”. Centre for Social and Economic Progress. New Delhi, 30 August 2024.
