National Sports Day
National Sports Day at IIIT-Bangalore was nothing short of unforgettable, bringing together the entire campus in a lively celebration of sports and camaraderie. Spanning two days, the event faced some rain delays, but the energy and enthusiasm never dampened. Despite the weather hiccups, the atmosphere was electric as students eagerly participated and cheered for their friends.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, who paid tribute to Indian sports legend Major Dhyan Chand. Joining him were Dr. Neha Arora, Sports Officer, and the Sports Committee members, setting the tone for the celebration of sportsmanship and unity.
Handball and Kabaddi took center stage, with the excitement for these events being contagious. A standout moment of the event was the women’s handball match, which brought extra buzz to the occasion. The talent and energy of the female athletes were a true highlight, with the crowd wholeheartedly supporting them, showcasing the event’s inclusive spirit.
From thrilling handball goals to strategic Kabaddi raids, the players left it all on the field. Every match was met with loud cheers and encouragement, creating a sense of unity and fun. Though the rain caused a few delays, it couldn’t dampen the joyful atmosphere.
