My Joy is my Baby
My joy is my baby
born of me , bequeathed to me
a tremendously precious gift.
It is my doing and undoing
my go-between life’s harsh realities
dwindling sanity and disappearing loyalties.
My joy is my baby
innocent , new – delivering my nurturance.
The universe sings to me through it
a song of infinite beauty.
It is the river of my life
cascading in my heart
and drowning out disputes, traps and choking finalities.
My joy is my baby
I guard it like a lioness
at humanity’s door.
I feed it with my best intentions
fiercely protective of this innocent but
startlingly beautiful unfolding
My joy is solely my responsibility.
My joy is my baby
it is the seed of eternal happiness
the peace of the ONE Truth
my forgetfulness is my poison
When caricatures of life
stealthy shadows of guilt , shame and mistakes
try to steal it from me
I rest it close to my breasts
I rock it to sleep
I feed it the nectar of the universe
the sacred knowledge that all love
has been given to me and
that fear never was nor ever will be
an operational reality
