
Spandan 2026 returned with renewed energy, scale, and spirit, transforming the campus intoa vibrant arena of sports, strategy, and celebration. With participation from 550+ students and alumni, and competitions spread across 19 sporting and esports events, the fest stood out as one of the most expansive editions yet. Featuring 8 major sports, 4 minor sports, and 7 sports, Spandan 2026 spanned three action-packed days starting 23rd January 2026, celebrating teamwork, resilience, and the shared passion that unites the IIIT-Bangalore community.
Spandan 2026 commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony marked by the hoisting of the institute flag and an inspiring address by the Director, Prof. Debabrata Das. The moment was made memorable as helium balloons were released, painting the sky with colour, symbolising the spirit and enthusiasm of the fest. The ceremony set an energetic and uplifting tone for the competitions that followed.

Day 1 marked the commencement of competitive action across major sports, minor sports, and esports. Early morning fixtures saw teams taking the field with high energy and determination. Alongside the matches, food stalls featuring Belgian waffles, fries, slushies, and a food truck added to the festive atmosphere. League matches and initial rounds were held simultaneously across multiple venues, keeping the campus lively as first wins, close contests, and emerging rivalries defined the day.

Day 2 raised the intensity as alumni entered the playing field, delivering tough competition across sports. Notable highlights included high-quality matches in table tennis, throwball, basketball, and badminton, with several fiercely contested encounters. Minor sports were highlighted by the pentathlon, while esports peaked with multiple intense rounds. Meanwhile, food stalls featuring Belgian waffles, Boba Bhai, and a food truck remained packed, adding to the vibrant atmosphere throughout the day.
Day 3 marked the final mile of Spandan 2026, with competitions stretching right up to the last moments of the day. The campus resonated with roaring cheers as high-stakes matches unfolded across volleyball, cricket, throwball, basketball, and tug of war, each drawing large crowds and intense support. Teams gave their all, displaying grit, resilience, and exceptional sportsmanship in pursuit of victory.
As the final whistle blew, Spandan 2026 wrapped up with memories that will echo across the campus long after the games were won.
