IIIT-Bangalore recently inaugurated the Samsung Chip Design Studio (CDS) 2026, a unique initiative aimed at nurturing future chip designers through strong industry–academia collaboration. The event marked an important step toward empowering students with hands-on exposure to real-world semiconductor design challenges. Prof. Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT-Bangalore, inaugurated the programme and welcomed the guests and participants.
We were honored to have the following distinguished leaders from Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) join the inauguration:
· Mr. Anshul Sharma – VP & Head of Memory Solution Team, SSIR
· Mr. Shivendra Srivastava – Head of HR, SSIR

Through insightful addresses and discussions, the speakers emphasized the importance of practical design thinking, innovation, and industry-relevant skills in the semiconductor domain. A key highlight of the inauguration was the interactive session with the selected student teams, where participants shared their ideas, expectations, and enthusiasm for the programme.
The Samsung Chip Design Studio continues to serve as a powerful platform for students to translate ideas into silicon and gain meaningful exposure to the chip design ecosystem.

The reunion of our very first batch, the Class of 1999 took place recently, marking 25 years since they graduated. They visited the campus, explored the infrastructure, and spent time reconnecting. They also met their professors and the Director, Prof. Debabrata Das. Overall, they relived old memories and enjoyed quality time with their batchmates, faculty members, staff, and current students.

In commemoration of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, observed as National Youth Day, we organised a special event aimed at promoting fitness, unity, and the spirit of youth.
The event featured a 3 km run along with a series of engaging recreational activities, encouraging enthusiastic participation from the community.

The campus came alive with vibrant kites dotting the sky, festive cheer all around, and shared laughter among students. It was a spirited celebration of culture and community, bringing everyone together in true festive fervour.
