January marked a fresh beginning for IIIT-Bangalore, opening the year with the Grand Biryani Feast. The institute community came together to share a meal, exchange warm wishes, and celebrate the year ahead in a spirit of togetherness.

The month also commenced with Research Admissions (Term 2), welcoming new scholars into the institute’s dynamic academic ecosystem.

We witnessed another engaging edition of Confluence, where Mirror Glitch was the central theme. The speakers shed light on rethinking the self in a digital world, encouraging thoughtful conversations and deeper reflection among the audience.

January also brought the much-anticipated intra-college sports fest, Spandan, which saw enthusiastic participation across a wide range of games from the student community, showcasing both competitive spirit and camaraderie.

Adding to the pride of the institute, Director Prof. Debabrata Das received the prestigious Medal of Honor from the IEEE Bangalore Section for his outstanding research and technical leadership in Digital Public Infrastructure and Computer Networking.

The month concluded on a vibrant note with the annual cultural fest, Infin8, which witnessed impressive participation and high energy, reflecting the creative spirit of the campus community.

Overall, January 2026 began on a spirited and dynamic note, setting the tone for an exciting and eventful year ahead.
